James Davis Nicoll asked for something special yesterday on Facebook: specifically a song where Hermione Granger maybe ranted about not doing other peoples’ homework for them (something that she spends an inordinate amount of time doing, for a person who already does everything else).
The call was answered, my friends. And it is beautiful. (Also full of curse words, so maybe NSFW?)
Here is the response, written in a day by JTigwell. Enjoy this ode to the overworked and under-appreciated everywhere:
And here are all the lyrics, if you are so inclined to sing this at your next holiday party/talent show/The Voice audition.
LOL. I finished another reread of the series (necessary after the election) and when I got to the last book kept thinking how Auror would be a great career for Hermione because she’s so smart and can think on her feet, even in the most stressful of situations (and that PS “Are you a witch or not?” moment was early on, so . . . and nicely parallels with her DH question to Ron “Are you a wizard?” question at the Whomping Willow, and he used successfully the spell he had trouble with in PS).
Typo: there is no H in Mr. Nicoll’s name.
@2 – Fixed, thank you!
I don’t normally like these type of things – trying to make a side character the main but eh…this is funny. Good stuff!
The song is (dare I say it?)… BRILLIANT!
This song made it on to an album, if you’d like to check out more of Jim’s things: https://wootsuitriot.bandcamp.com/
